Description: The Burnhamthorpe Library in the Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre launched the first Community Garden on August 16. In collaboration with Ecosource, their goal is to connect neighborhood residents with common gardening spaces that encourage active, healthy living that also helps âgreen the city". These gardens are funded by the City of Mississauga. Community gardens nourish the body, mind and soul of all involved. During the launch, community members and councillors gathered to dig in the dirt and plant vegetables. They planted turnips, lettuce, beets and more. The NYCE Youth group got their hands dirty as well with planting and helping in other areas like supplying refreshments and helping to tear down. From this one event, good things will blossom!
